Figurative Sculptures
It's Too Late
air dry clay, wood, wire, paint
8x13
This piece is commenting on the issue of climate change and how it affects everyone from animals to humans. Polar bears in the North are especially effected as their habitat is melting every single day. I communicated this by putting the polar bear on top, dripping down the sculpture and on to the human who refuses to clean up the mess. The buildings floating and falling into the water are indicative of rising sea levels that are caused by polar melting.

This article describes how polar bears have long been the "poster child of the consequences of climate change". As sea ice starts to melt, the species is struggling with hunting hunting seals, their main source of food. This means they could go extinct in the wild by the end of the century. In an Earth Day protest against climate change, Wynn Alan Bruce set himself on fire and passed away in front of the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. A climate scientist and friend of Bruce, Dr. Kritee Kanko commented, “This is not suicide, this is a deeply fearless act of compassion to bring attention to climate crisis.”
Dinner & A Movie
It Means He Likes You
Various objects and materials
Inspired by the movie Fresh (2022)
This photo speaks on the theme of deception, especially from those whom are closest to you. The two plates are indicative of romantic partners where one is almost out of frame- overpowered by someone who takes advantage of them, as indicated by the knife. They grapes, a bond they once shared, now completely one sided as they walk a line between violence and romance. The photographs under the utensils represent those that had come before her. While her plate is sullied by spilled wine, her will remains strong like the flame of the candle and the jasmine flowers that signify feminine powers.

Gregor's Room
Gregor's Room
A visual response to the short story The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
White Copy Paper, Ink (No Adhesives)
8" x 4" x 2"
The sculpture collection reflects my perception of the short story The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
After Gregor is transformed into a large insect, he is confined to his bedroom where he learns to be comfortable with being a bug. Gregor's living situation quickly turns to filth and he enjoys eating rotten garbage instead of his old favorite foods. In my sculpture, I wanted to capture Gregor's room in a state of disarray and filth. He is represented by the rotten apple that his father threw at him.
