I used 25 tea bags in a medium sized pot of water for a few hours to try and get a really dark color. It didn't turn out as dark as I wanted but I still really like the results nonetheless.
This is all my fabrics after they dried and have the sketches laid out. I didn't end up using the one with the scale.
I used fabric paints to color my sketches. This was just the base color of the chess pieces
